Toddler Room

Welcome to the Toddler Room. Here your child will learn, play and grow with the other children age 15 months to 2 years.

We fuel your little one’s boundless curiosity through interactive group time. The toddlers learn new words as we read books to them, and they sing and dance as we lead them in song. During group and transition times, we count to ten and sing our ABCs. This repetition helps them learn their numbers and letters.

Important Information About the Toddler Room

Having “graduated” from the Infant Rooms, your child will do a lot of new things. Here in the Toddler Room:

  • We sleep on cots at nap time. No more cribs!
  • We sit in chairs at lunch. No more highchairs!
  • We only drink out of cups. No more bottles!
  • We have a structured day.
  • No more diaper bags please.

But our little ones are not that big yet.

  • We still use pacifiers, but we try to limit them to naptime only.
  • Feel free to send a special blanket or stuffed animal – or both – that we’ll keep on your child’s cot.
  • We prefer shoes that tie and are closed toe for safety measures.

As you know, toddlers love exploring with their senses and we do a lot of messy, fun activities to help them learn and discover. Your child shouldn’t wear any clothes you don’t want messy.

Toddlers are also very curious and love to scatter things. Please make sure you clearly label everything you bring in, including coats, hats, gloves and extra clothes. Please make sure all clothes are size and seasonally appropriate.

Meals and Snacks

We provide meals and snacks, supplied by the Food Services Department at Carle. A menu is available for your review. If your little one requires a special diet, we’ll work with you to make sure their nutritional needs are being met.
